'Relative Terms'

Yester-night, I was out on a random chat, then turn out that I slept at 1.30am, despite being home by 12am. Then came home, on the road I came to think about loads of things perhaps it would be okay if I penned it down or rather keyed in.

First thing first, "Relative Terms"

First, what's relativity? As defined by Einstein, it is the ratio of speed of an object to the speed of light in time dilation. In layman term, it is defined as what is percieved as seen by each individual party. In other words, if you are running to the right at 5 metres per second towards the stationary object, the object appears to be running towards you at 5 metres per second. So if both people are running towards each other, each person percieved by each other is 10 metres per second. It is all the same as we have learnt that in Primary school speed problem. Both car start at different ends, one travelling at speed X, while another is speed Y. They ask how far does each other travel to meet each other? The way of solving this problem is use the total distance divided by the total speed (X+Y), find out the time. Then use each individual speed multiply by the time taken, then the distance travlled by each individual car. Answer to the question is then out. So in other words, from the third party point of view, it's like to cars travelling towards each other. However, in the car's point of view, the speed of the car relative to each other is X+Y. So I suppose relative term is rather explained? If not, then read on. If you understand, then you also read on.

So, bringing this concept of relativity on, we could further define some words such as "long", "short", "tall", "fast", "slow", "wide", "narrow" as relativity. Like someone say "I think our distance is getting wider and wider". Based on the concept of relativity, is both parties moving away from each other, or one party is moving away another standing still? This probably you figure out the answer. Next example, if a person who can easily jump over a distance of 5 metres, then do you think that that person could easily jump over that middle platform that are in AMK and Jurong East? Then he would probably think that the platform gap is "just nice and not too wide" for him to make his jump. Then you ask a person who couldn't even clear the standing broad jump of 2.25metres to jump, what do you think the person would say?

Therefore, I personally feel, if you are using such relative terms, perhaps you could add a few words in front like "To me", "It seems ... relative to me"; but you never should use relativity to despise people like "I think it's easy to me, but given your intelligence, maybe it would be difficult for you?" This sucks.

This the first lesson. There would be more, if I have the time to talk about it. Just the way I don't like people coming out and say "Oh, the exam so damn easy" or "Confirm die la..".. It just sucks and the feeling is so unkind..
